ASML, the Dutch maker of the machines that print advanced chips, reported record third-quarter sales of 11.7 billion euros and said it cannot fully meet customer demand in 2027 and 2028. Its shares still slipped, as investors weighed a high valuation after a sharp chip selloff.

The numbers

ASML said sales were 11.66 billion euros, up from 9.33 billion in the second quarter, with a gross margin of 57.5% and net income of 5.0 billion euros (ASML release). It guided fourth-quarter sales to 14.2 billion to 15.2 billion euros and full-year 2026 sales to 44 billion to 45 billion euros. Newsquawk said revenue beat the 11.58 billion euros expected and the outlook beat forecasts, with full-year guidance above the 43.6 billion expected.

Supply and the share price

Newsquawk quotes chief executive Christophe Fouquet saying the company now expects its planned supply for both 2027 and 2028 "will not fully meet the demand of our customers." Newsquawk had the shares down about 3% before the European open, and Investing.com said they fell about 1.9% in regular trading Tuesday and another 2.3% after hours in the US, noting the stock was trading near 55 times earnings.

The report comes after a rough week for chip stocks. See chip selloff reaches Wall Street and the Applied Materials story.
